News from Max School
The school year has been going very well through these challenging times, but we have made some changes to our Health and Safety Smart Restart plan.
1. The Governor has made exemptions for schools to classify themselves in their own color category. Example- McLean county is in Orange but that does not necessarily put Max School in Orange.
2. At Max School we have 5 colors- blue, green, yellow, orange, and red (Same as the rest of the State).
3. Blue and Green are considered the same at Max. For our school to be in Blue/Green we must have zero percent of positive Covid cases and zero staff/students out due to contact tracing.
4. For Max Elementary school to be in yellow there needs to be between 1 and 30 percent of staff and students either out with a positive Covid or contact tracing. For the Junior and Senior high staff and students (7th-12th grade) the percentage is between 1 and 20 percent.
5. For Max Elementary school to be in orange there needs to be between 31 and 49 percent of staff and students either out with a positive Covid or contact tracing. For the Junior and Senior High staff and students (7th-12th grade) the percentage is between 21 and 49 percent.
6. For Max School to be in Red there needs to be 50 percent of all staff and students either out with a positive Covid or contact tracing.
7. If our school is in Orange or Red, all activities will be cancelled.
8. If our School is in Orange all staff, students, and visitors will be required to wear cloth masks, masks will always be worn except when there is a 6-foot separation.
9. If our School is in Red, the school will be distance learning.
10. Please continue to check the website for athletic updates, regarding attendance at games.

*The basketball meetings scheduled for today during parent/teacher conferences will be virtual. Please watch the app/website/Facebook for the links: JH girls will start at 4:00, JV/Varsity girls at 4:30, and JV/Varsity boys at 5:00.
*State Cross Country will be held in Cooperstown at the country club on Saturday, October 24th starting at 3:00 pm. Bus will leave the school at 10:15 am.
*Picture retakes will be Wednesday, October 28th.
* Juniors: The parent post-prom meeting for tomorrow has been moved to next week Thursday, October 29th at 7 pm. It will be a virtual meeting. More information to come next week. If you have any questions, see Mrs. Schatz or Mrs. Huettl.

The first ever Cossacks volleyball season is in the books! Tonight our girls took on TGU. Our C squad lost 1-2 and our JV won 2-0. Thank you players, coaches, and families for the fun season!
In accordance with adjustments made by Governor Burgum yesterday to the Large Gathering Protocols, modifications have been made to the 2020 NDHSAA State Cross Country Meet. Instead of a combined state meet, two sites (Jamestown - Class A) and (Cooperstown - Class B) will be utilized for this NDHSAA postseason event.

*Student Council meeting in Mr. Nordquist's room tomorrow morning at 8:05AM.
*Students are supposed to take their Chromebook home every day. This will help them be prepared for if/when they become a close contact or positive covid.
* Wresting starts Nov. 9th in Velva. There is a signup sheet in the office. Garrison will pick up for practices. Sign up deadline is October 21st

Parents, Guardians, and Patrons:
The Governor announced yesterday a risk level color change to our county moving us from yellow to orange effective Friday at 5:00 pm. Our current safety plan states we would be moving to online learning with a color change; HOWEVER, the governor specifically stated schools are not applicable when it comes to the risk level change. Meaning, we will continue with in-person instruction. Restrictions will be placed on the number of visitors to our buildings, especially for activities reducing the numbers to those in attendance to 25%. Our safety plan will be amended to reflect these changes asap. Please continue to monitor our website, app, and social media for continued updates.

*Today: *6:00pm Girls volleyball C Squad Game, *7:00pm Girls JV volleyball Game vs. Washburn @ Washburn High School C followed by JV. (we will be playing their JH) followed by JV. Leave Max @ 4:30. 2 spectators per athlete (must have your pass). Masks are required when entering the building and anytime you leave the gym. There will be limited concessions. Our seating will be located behind our team, please social distancing.
