Karl Behm got 1st in Impromptu to State Qualify and 4th in Poetry. It was HIS day! With his wins, he also earned his fourth and final leg for the ND Speech and Drama 🎭 ALL-State Team. He joins his teammates Skylar Beck, Natalee Becker, Gracie Rauschenberger, Josh Lindbo, Maddie Hogue, and Emma Marten for this honor. Other results from Hazen: Brylee Beeter got 6th in Poetry and 3rd in inform. Natalee Becker got 3rd in Entertain. Maddie Hogue got 4th in humorous Interp. Maddie and Natalee got 3rd In humorous duo. Caylen Rohrbeck got 7th in Storytelling. Their next meet is April 6th at home in South Prairie. The top 2-4, (depending on the number of speakers in each event) qualify for state at Regionals, so this makes it an important meet! There are plans in the making for a Speech Showcase before State Speech where our speakers will perform their pieces for our community. Look for that date soon!

Max-South Prairie hosted our first non-regional tournament on March 23rd at Max High School. 18 teams, including our own, said they weren't afraid of no Alberta clippers or Colorado lows and performed as if regionals were in two weeks. (That's because they are.) For how Max-South Prairie Speech speakers progressed: In Speech to Entertain, Natalee Becker placed 5th. In Humorous Interp, Maddie Hogue placed 4th. The Max-South Prairie Speech Team competed today at the Glenburn Invite. Natalee Becker got 1st in Informative Speech and State Qualified for the Class B State Tournament in Mandan in April! Congrats Natalee! Emma Marten placed 2nd in EPR and Elias Jimenez placed 9th in EPR. Emma Marten and Skylar Beck placed 3rd in Serious Duo. Maddie Hogue and Natalee Becker placed 3rd in Humorous Duo. Emma Marten was 4th in Poetry. Karl Behm was 4th in Impromptu. Skylar Beck placed 5th in Impromptu and 6th in Serious Prose. Maddie Hogue was 5th in Humorous Interp. Natalee Becker was 6th in her Entertain and 8th in Humorous Interp. Calen Rohrbach placed 6th in Impromptu. Emma Marten was also 7th in Dramatic. Both Natalee Becker and Emma Marten earned the last leg of All State so are members of the ND Speech and Theater 🎭 All State Team! Congrats ladies! The next speech meet for our speakers is March 23rd in Max: Our Home Meet!

The Max Music department had a full week of music performances! On Wednesday our 7-12 Band & Choir performed for judges at our regional large group contest at MSU. Last Saturday our 5-8 music students participated in the Washburn Music Festival performing their solos and ensembles for judges to critique. Truly a fine young group of musicians!
