Merry Christmas!

With Covid still looming over us, we have been trying to find ways to continue a sense of normalcy while still following North Dakota Department of Health (NDDOH) guidelines. Cossack Pride has been altered to an online store. Mrs. Watts and the students have worked very hard for this to remain part of our positive culture. Cossack Pride is a way to reward students for above-and-beyond behavior and accomplishments. I hope you were able to see the student's virtual Christmas Concert. It was uploaded to the website December 17th. Mr. Starks and the students did a wonderful job working around Covid obstacles to bring you the 2020 Christmas Concert. If you have not had a chance to see it, please visit Max Public School Christmas Concert 2020 - YouTube. I hope you enjoy!

Students are finishing the first semester up on December 22nd and will start the second semester on January 4th. Many of the upperclassmen just finished taking their semester finals for dual-credit classes. Most of the students who took dual-credits are scheduling their next college course(s) for the spring semester. I am very pleased with all the students who are pushing themselves academically.

  1. A friendly reminder, it is important to communicate with the school any time your child is going to be gone from school. This is a new challenge with the ability to distance learn due to Covid. However, there have been times throughout the semester this privilege has been abused so I would like to clear up some expectations. If you call your child in sick, please let them rest and treat it like a traditional sick day.
  2. If your child is quarantined and healthy, then they are expected to log on to Google Classroom and attend class. If the student does not attend class, then they will be considered unexcused and will not receive credit for anything which was due in class that day.
  3. If your child is quarantined and sick, then please call the school and excuse your child from attending virtual class for the day. This should be done on a daily basis to stay transparent with the school. If there are supplies your child needs from school to be successful at home during quarantine, then contact the office to make arrangements to pick them up within a day of being quarantined.

I look forward to next semester when we all return. I am optimistic that all activities will return in the near future and this time of challenges has increased our learning potential. With that, I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Sincerely,

Trent Sherven
