Supplies needed for Grade 4
Class Supply List

If you know your child is going to be absent, please send a note ahead of time. I will gather the work for students to complete and bring back to school before they are gone. If your child is ill and unable to come to school, please call the office.

Homework that is given is extremely beneficial to your child’s education, and it is important that it is completed with maximum effort and on time!

Students are given a respectable amount of time to complete work in school. What is not completed in school will be taken home by the child, completed, and returned the next day. For every day the assignment is late, one point will be taken off.

I do my best to enter grades in PowerSchool daily. PowerSchool is always available to parents to check on their child’s grades. It can be found on the Max Public School website.

Throughout the week, the students and I will read a story from their reading textbook. On Fridays, the students will take a comprehension test on the story along with spelling and vocabulary words from the lesson. Students will also take a math test at the end of each chapter. Along with math, reading, and spelling tests, students will have quizzes throughout the year in certain subjects, topics, or skills. I will be sure to inform every one of upcoming quizzes.

 Special Notes: students will have:

  • Physical education: Mr. Borseth
  • Music: Miss Pederson
  • Library: Mrs. Roller
  • Bookmobile is the first Wednesday of every month
  • Counseling: Mrs. Kersten
  • Keyboarding: Mrs. Kramer
  • Mrs. Kersten is available for one-on-one meetings.
  • Mrs. Smith provides speech services to qualifying students.
  • Please remember to dress your child appropriately for the weather.
  • Students will need a pair of inside shoes that they will wear in the building, and keep in school.

Weekly Newsletter
Every Friday, I will send home a newsletter. This will contain information for the following week.  In this newsletter you will find the big idea for each subject, any upcoming test dates, weekly focus wall, and other important information. It is incredibly important that you read the newsletter, because it will help you stay up-to-date.

Classroom Expectations

  • Be Respectful
  • Be Responsible
  • Be Safe
  • Show your Cossack Pride!

Cossack Pride
Cossack Pride was designed to reward students for above and beyond behavior. If a student is caught going above expectations, the student will receive a Cossack Pride ticket. Once the student has collected 10 tickets, he/she can cash them in for a certificate. Students can then use those certificates to purchase items from the Cossack Pride store.

Parent Involvement
I love having parents volunteer. With demanding schedules, I completely understand how hard this can be. There are many things you can volunteer to help out with during school hours, after school hours, and even at home! We will have 3 room parties: Halloween, Christmas, and Valentine’s Day. The parties start at 2:00 and need volunteers to provide snacks and activities. Other ways to volunteer may be teaching an art or science lesson, reading to the class, providing a simple snack for the day, etc. If you didn’t get a chance to sign-up at Open House, please send me an email and we can work something out!
Parent and teacher cooperation is beneficial for children. I look forward to building relationships with each one of you to ensure your child’s needs are fulfilled. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. It is very important for us to keep communication open and respect one another. If you have an issue with a decision I have made, please remember that I only want the absolute best for your child. I am doing what I feel is necessary for your child to be successful, and I know you are doing the same.
