We provide opportunities to empower all learners.

Mrs. Stroschein

My name is Nyssa Stroschein and I am the 7-12 English Language Teacher. This fall will be my 4th year of teaching English; I previously taught 7-12 English at  North Shore Plaza. I am originally from Golden Valley, ND and attended Dodge Elementary from Kindergarten to 4th grade, 5th and 6th grade in Max, and 7th-12th grades at Erik Ramstad and Minot High, graduating in 2004. I received a full-tuition scholarship to a private Catholic college outside of Philadelphia, PA. In 2008 I graduated from Rosemont College with a degree in History, a minor in Political Science, and concentration in Women’s Studies. I did not want to become my mother, who is a 7th grade math teacher, and I railed against being a teacher. Nevertheless, I gave in to my true nature and graduated from Minot State University in 2016 with my Education degree.

I am married to Rusty Stroschein; my husband works for EOG Resources out of Stanley, ND. We have two sons, Anson (4) and Iver (2), and are expecting a third child in November. We have two dogs, Copper, a Red Labrador, and Tuff, a Miniature Pinscher Schnauzer mix. When not at work, we enjoy hunting, fishing, and camping.

I love learning and reading. I am very excited to Coach Speech for the third year and to direct drama for the first time. My favorite part of teaching is expanding horizons, not just for students, but for myself as well. No person reads or experiences literature in the same way as the person next to them. I appreciate hearing their perspectives, because they might interpret the topic in a completely different way. I thoroughly enjoy student discussion on what we’re reading, they’re reading, current events, and their concerns.
